7 Spray Tanning Tips

Here are some tips that will help you not only a more enjoyable spray tanning experience but also a more professional one. Read them carefully and further research any point you feel needs more attention.

1 – When inquiring about spray tanning make sure you ask the spray tanning salon about the tanning solution they use. And do some research on the name and brand. As with everything else not all tanning products are like, some are simply superior quality than others. So spend a little time, do your research and read as many reviews you can about the products that will go on your skin. Some tanning salons like to cut corners and use the cheapest quality tanning solution and they get away with this because not many people ask or research the brands the use.

2- Ask the spray tanning salon if they use a barrier cream. What this cream does, is that it prevents certain spots of the body from being colorized by the spray tanning mist. You might think, well that’s a good thing right? Actually no, because it is indicative of sloppy work. When going to a salon, you should expect professional work. You deserve to have a professional take his/her time on your skin. So keep that in mind and remember if that particular salon uses barrier creams then there are others who are confident and professional enough not to use that stuff on their clients.

3- Prior to your spray tanning session it would a good thing if you exfoliated and moisturized your skin. This will greatly improve the way your tan looks after your session and it will also help preserve the tan better as it fades. You basically don’t want anything to be in-between the bronze tanning mist and your outer skin cells. This is true for makeup and so make sure you go in there nice and clean.

4 – Proper attire and I don’t mean while you’re getting tan. I mean the clothes you’ll wear after your spray tanning session. It is recommended to wear very loose clothing and nothing that is too light in color or expensive. The spraying tanning solution once it sticks is very hard to remove and so you wouldn’t want any bronze color on say your under garments.

5- So you’re done with the tan and the only thing is to wait for it to develop nicely. During this time you want to refrain from excess sweating, so don’t do anything strenuous and also basically keep away from water whether it’s bath or shower. You don’t want to damage your tan before it fully develops, so be patient. Your tanner will advise on how long it will be before you should take a bath or shower so heed their advice as the time varies for different spray tanning solutions.

6-Preserving your tan shouldn’t take much but to keep it looking great then using a moisturize once a day will help. Just make sure that it’s a natural product because some ingredients may escalate the rate at which your tan fades. Also keep away from swimming pools as chlorine weakens the tan as well. The same is true for cleaning detergents so be careful when washing dishes with your hands.

7- Last but not least, relax and try not to stress about your first spray tanning session. Some people are simply too self-conscious and worry that the professional tanner might look at them oddly for whatever reason. Whether it’s because of a birthmark on their skin or simply because simply because the client is uncomfortable with other people looking at their body and skin. The tanners are professionals and probably have seen hundreds if not thousands of bodies of all shapes and colors. So don’t stress yourself on something that is irrelevant and unimportant, after all you are just another person going in for a tan.
